Window Tinting in Vancouver

Darren Ni • June 4, 2026

Vancouver drivers deal with a bit of everything: low winter sun that blinds you on the drive home, summer heat that turns a parked car into an oven, and UV that fades a dashboard over a few seasons. Quality window tint handles all three. At Inspire Auto Studio in Richmond, we install LLumar film for customers across Metro Vancouver, and every job is backed by a lifetime manufacturer warranty.

Why Vancouver drivers tint their windows

Tint does more than darken the glass. Done with the right film, it changes how the car feels to drive and sit in.

  • Heat rejection that keeps the cabin cooler in summer and eases the load on your A/C
  • 99% UV protection, which guards your skin and slows fading on seats, leather and the dashboard
  • Less glare from low sun and headlights, so the drive is easier on your eyes
  • Added privacy for the people and gear inside the car
  • A cleaner, finished look that suits the vehicle

The difference between an entry film and a ceramic film is mostly heat and clarity, which is where the film choice comes in.

The LLumar films we install

We carry a film for every job, so you can match it to your budget and how much heat you want gone.

LLumar ATC is our dyed film. It gives a deep, even, factory-clean look, blocks 99% of UV, and is the most affordable way to get the appearance and privacy most people are after.

LLumar IRX is our premium nano-ceramic film. It rejects far more infrared heat than a dyed film while staying optically clear, so you get the biggest drop in cabin temperature without going darker than you want. If you park outside, do a lot of summer driving, or just want the best comfort, this is the one to ask about.

LLumar AIR 80 is our windshield film. It's near-clear at about 80% light transmission, so it keeps full day and night visibility while still blocking 99% of UV and a large share of the heat that comes through the front glass. It's the answer for drivers who want the windshield protected without a dark look.

BC window tint rules, explained

British Columbia's tint laws are stricter than a lot of people expect, and we keep every install on the right side of them.

  • Rear window and rear side windows: no darkness restriction, so you can go as dark as you like
  • Front side windows and windshield: BC's Motor Vehicle Act restricts aftermarket tint here, with only a narrow shade strip allowed across the top of the windshield

If you want heat protection up front, the near-clear LLumar AIR 80 windshield film is the option to ask about. For anything involving the front windows or windshield, the best move is a quick consultation so we can walk you through what's permitted.

Picking your shade

We install four shades: 5%, 15%, 35% and 50%. Lower numbers are darker.

5% is limo-dark — the most privacy and the boldest look, and a popular pick for rear glass on SUVs and trucks. 15% is our most popular choice for rear windows; it looks sharp, adds real privacy, and still lets you see out at night. 35% is a middle-ground look that's noticeably tinted without being dark. 50% is the lightest, mainly for UV and heat help while keeping the glass close to factory. We'll show you the shades in person so you can see them on the car before deciding.

How much does window tinting cost in Vancouver?

Pricing depends on the film and how many windows you're doing. Our LLumar ATC dyed film starts at $149 for the front windows, with full-vehicle packages available. Ceramic IRX sits above that for the extra heat rejection, and the AIR 80 windshield film is priced separately. Every install comes with a lifetime manufacturer warranty, so it's protected against bubbling, peeling and fading for as long as you own the car.

Why book with Inspire Auto Studio

We're a Richmond-based studio serving drivers across Metro Vancouver, and tinting is one of the things we do most. We focus on doing it properly the first time rather than being the cheapest shop in town — film and install quality are what you actually live with for years.

Frequently asked questions

  • How long does window tinting take?

Most cars are done in a few hours. We'll confirm timing when you book based on the package.

  • Does window tint really reduce heat?

Yes — and ceramic IRX makes the biggest difference. Dyed film helps with UV and glare, while ceramic adds strong infrared heat rejection that you feel on hot days. For the windshield, AIR 80 cuts heat up front without darkening the glass.

  • Will the tint bubble or peel?

Not with a proper install and quality film. Both are covered by a lifetime manufacturer warranty against bubbling, peeling and fading.

  • Can I tint my front windows in BC?

BC restricts aftermarket tint on the front side windows and windshield. Book a consultation and we'll explain what's permitted and the near-clear AIR 80 option for heat protection up front.

  • How soon can I roll my windows down after tinting?

Give the film a few days to cure before lowering the windows. We'll give you exact aftercare when you pick up the car.
