Car Detailing Richmond BC | Find Your Package
Most people know their car needs a detail — they're just not sure which one. There's a big difference between a car that needs a quick freshen-up after a weekend trip and one that's been sitting through a Vancouver winter with dog hair ground into the seats. Booking the wrong package means either overpaying for services your car doesn't need, or underpaying and walking away disappointed.
Here's a straightforward breakdown of what professional detailing actually involves, how to figure out which tier your car needs, and what it costs at a shop that takes this seriously.
What's the Difference Between a Wash and a Detail?
A wash gets the surface clean. A detail goes deeper — decontaminating the paint, extracting embedded dirt from the interior, conditioning leather, treating stains, and leaving the vehicle in a condition that's closer to how it left the factory. A proper detail also includes paint sealant or wax that protects the clear coat between visits. A wash doesn't.
Which Package Does Your Car Need?
Express Clean
Your car is already well-maintained and you just need a reliable, thorough clean between full details. Includes exterior hand wash, wheels and tires rinsed, interior vacuum, windows inside and out, tire dressing, and a full surface wipe-down.
Tier 1 — Maintained
For a car that's been kept up reasonably well. Thorough hand wash, wheel wells and door jambs wiped, full interior vacuum, all surfaces wiped down, cup holders and crevices cleaned, windows inside and out, tire dressing, and a light spray sealant on the paint.
Tier 2 — Overdue
For a car that hasn't been detailed in a while. Adds clay bar decontamination and iron remover on the paint, steam cleaning on vents and crevices, leather wiped and conditioned, and a full wax or sealant applied. If you're not sure whether you need Tier 1 or Tier 2 — you probably need Tier 2.
Tier 3 — Deep Clean
For a car with heavy soiling, pet hair, stains, odours, or paint that hasn't been properly decontaminated in years. Full foam soak and two-bucket hand wash, carpet shampoo and extraction, seat shampoo and extraction, stain treatment, pet hair removal, odour treatment, steam cleaning throughout, leather cleaned and protected, and sealant applied to the paint.
Tier 4 — Restoration
Reserved for vehicles in serious condition — heavy oxidation, mould, biohazard situations, or significant paint degradation. Includes multi-stage decontamination, engine bay cleaning, full strip-out if required, biohazard and mould treatment, steam clean of the entire interior, carpet and seat extraction, and paint enhancement or correction based on condition. Before and after photos provided. Full client walkthrough on completion. Pricing quoted after inspection.

What to Expect When You Bring Your Car In
Step 1 — Walkthrough. We'll look over the vehicle together before anything starts — confirm the right package, flag anything needing extra attention, and set expectations on timing.
Step 2 — Exterior decontamination and wash. Foam soak, hand wash, clay bar, iron remover, and wheel cleaning depending on your package. Everything gets done before the interior is touched.
Step 3 — Interior work. Vacuuming, extraction, steam cleaning, leather conditioning, and surface cleaning done methodically. Pet hair, stains, and odours take extra time, which is why Tier 3 and above block out a full day.
Step 4 — Protection applied. Sealant or wax goes on the paint at the end of every full detail. This is the step most quick-service shops skip.
Step 5 — Final walkthrough. We go over the vehicle with you before you leave. If anything isn't right, we fix it on the spot.
Timing: Express Clean 1–2 hrs · Maintained 2–3 hrs · Overdue/Deep Clean 4–6+ hrs · Restoration is a full day or more.
How Often Should You Detail Your Car?
For most drivers, a full detail once or twice a year with regular maintenance washes in between is the right cadence. If you have kids, pets, or do a lot of driving, three times a year makes sense. The practical sign you've gone too long: you're considering the Overdue package. Getting on a regular schedule keeps you in Tier 1 territory — less work, lower cost, consistently better condition.
